Rules

ARTICLE 1. INTRODUCTION

The Seville Council's Sports Institute (Instituto Municipal de Deportes del Ayuntamiento de Sevilla), in collaboration with Motorpress Ibérica S.A., is organising the 36th Zurich Seville City Marathon. It will be held on Sunday 23 February 2020 at 8.30, and entry is open to all adults, without discrimination on any grounds.

ARTICLE 2. APPROVAL

The course will be 42,195 metres long and will be duly certified as such. This race will be run under the IAAF and RFEA Road Race Rules and is included in the AIMS calendar. The course will be signposted and the end of each kilometre will be marked both on the road surface itself and on signs by the side of the course.

ARTICLE 4. SCHEDULE

The race will start at 8.30 and the maximum time to complete it will be 6 hours, so the Finishing Line will be closed at 14.30. For the wheelchair disabled category, the start will be at 8.29.

ARTICLE 5. WHEELED DEVICES

No wheeled device or similar apparatus (including handbikes) may be used during the race, except for the disabled athletes' wheelchairs which have been approved by the Federation and officially permitted by the Organisation. Safety helmets are obligatory for athletes using wheelchairs.

ARTICLE 6. REGISTRATION

6.1. REGISTRATION PERIOD

From 25 February 2019 until Monday, 17 February 2020 at 23.59 or until all the 14,000 available bibs have been taken.

6.2. REGISTRATION PERIODS AND PRICES:

SPECIAL PROMOTION FOR CITIZENS REGISTERED IN MUNICIPALITIES OF SEVILLE PROVINCE (*):

(*) Registration up to 31 December 2019 or until available bibs have been taken:

  • Ordinary: 26.07 Euros.
  • Disabled persons (33%): 13.04 Euros.

Registration from 1 January to 31 January 2020 or until available bibs have been taken:

  • Ordinary: 52.17 Euros.
  • Disabled persons (33%): 26.07 Euros.

Registration outside above periods (if there are bibs available):

  • 78,27 €.
  • Disabled persons (33%): 39.14 Euros.

 

REGISTRATION FOR THOSE NOT REGISTERED IN SEVILLE CITY

From opening of registrations to 1 April 2019:

  • Ordinary: 35.00 Euros.
  • Disabled persons (33%): 17.50 Euros.

From 2 April to 15 May 2019:

  • Ordinary: 45 Euros.
  • Personas con discapacidad (33%): 22,5 euros

Special promotion for Andalusian clubs* (from 2 April to 15 May 2019):

  • Ordinary: 35.00 Euros.

From 16 May to 31 August 2019:

  • Ordinary: 55 Euros.
  • Disabled persons (33%): 27,5 Euros.

From 1 September to 31 December 2019:

  • Ordinary: 65 Euros.
  • Disabled persons (33%): 32.5 Euros.

From 1 January to 31 January 2020:

  • Ordinary: 75 Euros.
  • Disabled persons (33%): 37,5 Euros.

From 1 February 2020 to the end of the registrations:

  • Ordinary: 80 Euros.
  • Disabled persons (33%): 40 Euros.

5 Euros of the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation (Real Federación Española de Atletismo) one day license will be added to these costs, except for those participants who own the license from the Andalusian or Spanish Federation or the card Corredor Plus.

6.3.- CONDITIONS

6.3.1.- The following terms and conditions apply for the special promotion for Andalusian clubs:

  • The clubs must be registered in the Andalusian Registry of Sports Entities.
  • The clubs must have at least 15 registered athletes from the club.

6.3.2.- To prove registration in a Seville province municipality, send a certificate of municipal registration (certificado de empadronamiento) to the Zurich Seville Marathon registration office, by email at: inscripciones@deporticket.com. The certificate of municipal registration will be the ONLY VALID DOCUMENT.

6.3.4.- No registrations will be accepted after Tuesday 18 February 2020 at 0.00.

6.4.- HOW TO REGISTER

Through the internet at www.zurichmaratonsevilla.es, registration section.

6.5.- REMARKS

  • Registration is individual and non-transferable, and implies full acceptance of the Technical Regulations for the race, including the Statement of Compliance which is included in said regulations as Appendix 1.
  • Under no circumstances may registration be transferred to another person once it has been accepted, even if the registered person is unable to take part in the race or for any other reasons.
  • The 36th Zurich Seville Marathon 2020 will be restricted to 14,000 runners.

6.6.- CANCELLATION GUARANTEE

Once the registration is accepted, the amount paid shall not be refunded under no circumstances. Runners may add a cancellation guarantee at the time of registration. They must select one of the three options available:

  • 1) I do not want any guarantee
  • 2) Standard cancellation guarantee Cost: 10% of the registration price. Min €3.50 (residents). 80% refund until 7 February 2020.
  • 3) Premium cancellation guarantee Cost: 20% of the registration price. Min €7.00 (residents). 100% refund until 7 February 2020.

 

  • Runners shall only be able to contract the cancellation guarantee at the time of registration.
  • The cancellation guarantee amount is not refundable.
  • Changes in ownership shall not be accepted.
  • It is compulsory to contract it at the time of registration.

 

ARTICLE 7. CATEGORIES AND RANKINGS

7.1. CATEGORIES

The categories are as follows:

  • U20 M / W: Born 2001 and 2002 (of legal age on race day)
  • U23 M / W: Born 1998 to 2000
  • Senior M / W: Born 1997 up to Veteran (35 years old)
  • Master M 35 / W 35: From 35 to 39 years old
  • Master M 40 / W 40: From 40 to 44 years old
  • Master M 45 / W 45: From 45 to 49 years old
  • Master M 50 / W 50: From 50 to 54 years old
  • Master M 55 / W 55: From 55 to 59 years old
  • Master M 60 / W 60: From 60 to 64 years old
  • Master M 65 / W 65: From 65 to 69 years old
  • Master M 70 / W 70: From 70 to 74 years old
  • Master M 75 / W 75: From 75 to 79 years old
  • Master M 80 / W 80: From 80 to 85 years old
  • Master M 85 / W 85: Over 85 years old.
  • Wheelchair disabled M / W
  • Physically/Mentally disabled M / W

* The stated ages must be those of the date of the race.

7.2. RANKINGS

The classes are as follows:

  • General Men's and Women's Open.
  • General Men's and Women's Wheelchair Disabled.
  • General Men's and Women's Physically/Mentally Disabled.
  • Men's and Women's Age Groups Categories.
  • Spanish Men's and Women's.
  • Andalusian Men's and Women's.
  • Sevillian Men's and Women's.

ARTICLE 8. PRIZES

In all case, a trophy will be awarded, and in certain cases, there will be a cash prize.

The first three prizes (men's and women's) will be paid in full if the times are under 2:11:00 for men and 2:30:00 for women; otherwise 50% will be paid. For times of over 2:18:00 for men and 2:38:00 for women placed 4th-10th, the prizes will be reduced by 50%.

If times are over 2:26:00 for men and 2:50:00 for women, there will be no cash prize.

These prizes can be added to those for the General and Spanish Classes, and will only be paid out for times under 2:20:00 for men and 2:40:00 for women.

Andalusian is understood to mean any person with Spanish nationality who was born in or resides in a municipality in Andalusia.

For classification and prize-giving purposes, Sevillian is understood to mean any person with Spanish nationality who was born in or resides in the municipality of Seville.

The wheelchair disabled prizes (men's and women's) will be paid in full if the times are under 1:55:00 for men and 2:15:00 for women; otherwise 50% will be paid. If times are over 2:10:00 for men and 2:30:00 for women, there will be no cash prize.

The physically/mentally disabled prizes (men's and women's) will be paid in full if the times are under 2:45:00 for men and 3:15:00 for women; otherwise 50% will be paid. If times are over 2:55:00 for men and 3:30:00 for women, there will be no cash prize.

All the cash prizes are subject to the regulatory withholdings and to recognition of the timing and placing by the RFEA. Participants who win cash prizes and have undergone a drug test will not be paid until the Organisation has the results of the test.

To collect any prize, the athletes must show their Identity Card, passport or other official document proving his/her identity.

Athletes who break national or international records must pass a drugs test.

Clubs

The three clubs with the highest amount of athletes arriving to finishing line will receive a trophy.

8.1. COMPLAINTS

Prizes will only be awarded by members of the RFEA Judges Committee.

Any complaints related to placings for which there are prizes must be made in writing together with €80 to the Referee Judge within a maximum of 30 minutes of the placings being published, and he/she will rule on them. In the event of the runner is right, the €80 will be returned.

Other complaints must be send in writing by email at: info@zurichmaratonsevilla.es, addressed to the Referee Judge; before the Wednesday following the race.

The Organisation will publish the Referee Judge's rulings within a maximum of 10 days, after which the placings will be considered definitive. Until then, therefore, all awards of trophies and prizes will be provisional.

ARTICLE 9. BIBS

Bibs may only be collected from the Runners Exhibition (Feria del Corredor), which will be held in the FIBES in Seville on Friday 21 and Saturday 22 February 2020, between 10.00 and 20.00 (uninterrupted).

To collect their bibs, runners will have to show their registration receipt or a copy of the registration and their Identity Card, passport or other official document which identifies them.

No bibs will be handed out on the day of the race.

The bibs must be worn on the front of the torso and be fully visible throughout the whole of the race; bibs may not be modified.

The bibs must not be folded or manipulated because they contain a disposable chip.

ARTICLE 10. DISQUALIFICATIONS

The following will lead to disqualification:

  • Providing false data in the registration (age, address, etc.).
  • Failing to complete the course.
  • Failing to pass through the checkpoints on the course.
  • Failing to have the bib clearly visible; changing or hiding the advertising on it.
  • Running with another runner's bib and/or chip.
  • Disobeying instructions from judges or personnel belonging to the Organisation.
  • Letting other runner photocopy and use the bib in the marathon.
  • Refusing to take a drugs test.
  • Behaving in an unsportsmanlike manner.

ARTICLE 11. PROVISIONING STATIONS

Food and drink will be given to runners along the course and in the designated area at the finishing line.

There will be stations with supplies of water at kilometres 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40; between these there will be stations with water and isotonic drinks (kilometres 7.5, 12.5, 17.5, 22.5, 27.5, 32.5 and 37.5). There will be sponges at kilometres 17.5 and 27.5.

Solid food will be available at some of the stations, starting with the one at kilometre 22.5.

ARTICLE 12. MEDICAL ATTENTION

The necessary Medical Services will be provided to attend to runners during the Zurich Seville City Marathon 2020. The Organisation recommends that all runners undergo a medical examination prior to the race, and each participant accepts the risks of running in it.

Runners also state that they are in optimum physical condition for the race and take part at their own risk.

Any runner with health problems must have previously informed the Organisation of this in writing, and must mark their bib with a red cross and write their name, address, telephone number and health problem. For their safety they must have sent a written notification of this prior to the race (stating their Bib number).

A Physiotherapy and Chiropody service will be available, exclusively for those runners who have been injured. Under no circumstances may the Physiotherapy service be used for a relaxing massage.

The Medical Services will be authorised to remove from the race a runner they consider to be in a bad physical state.

ARTICLE 13. BAGGAGE/CLOAKROOM SERVICE

The Organisation will have a baggage/cloakroom service where runners may deposit their belongings; it accepts no liability for items deposited there.

The Organisation's staff in charge of the baggage/cloakroom service may ask the runners to open their bags before accepting them in order to monitor the content. If a runner refuses to open his/her bag, the Organisation may not collect the bag.

ARTICLE 14. AUTHORISED VEHICLES

Only vehicles accredited by the Organisation may follow the race. Following the runners on/in any type of motorised or wheeled vehicle (roller skates, cycles, etc.) is totally forbidden and the Local Police of Sevilla have express orders to remove them from the course. There will be sweep bus following the race to collect those runners who, for any reason, cannot continue the race or do not wish to; any runners who are not in a condition to arrive by the planned closing time must get on the bus or abandon the race if so instructed by any member of the Organisation.

ARTICLE 15. UNAUTHORISED DEMONSTRATIONS

Any type of demonstration that could endanger the safety of participants or interfere with the race is forbidden; demonstrators will be removed by the Police.

ARTICLE 16. ACCEPTANCE OF THE REGULATIONS

All participants, by registering, accept these REGULATIONS and the Rules of the RFEA, FAA, IAAF and AIMS. In case of doubt, the Organisation's judgement takes priority.

ARTICLE 17. ACCEPTANCE OF PUBLICATION (DATA PROTECTION POLICY)

In compliance with article 5 of the Constitutional Act 3/2018 of 5 December on Personal Data Protection we inform you that your personal data will be processed and will be incorporated into the files which are the responsibility of Motorpress Ibérica S.A. and the Seville Sport Institute (Instituto Municipal de Deportes de Sevilla), which are registered with the Spanish Data Protection Agency. The personal data that is incorporated into the files is collected and processed in order to register the participants and to inform them of all matters related to the Seville Marathon.

Motorpress Ibérica S.A. and the Seville Sport Institute (Instituto Municipal de Deportes de Sevilla) undertake to comply with the obligations regarding technical, organisational and security measures included in the Regulations relating to Constitutional Act 3/2018 of 5 December on Personal Data Protection.

That the personal data provided and any images captured during the event, will be used for the purposes of the race and to publicise it and when informing of the final placings in the race, which will state name, surname, category and nationality of the runners.

Similarly, since the race is in the National and International Calendars of the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation (Real Federación Española de Atletismo), and since the contract signed with the company charged with the data processing provides for it to make commercial use of the race, the following data transfers are planned: transfer of your data to the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation for its own purposes; and the use of the images obtained during the event in any type of format and/or medium (paper, web, notices, video, etc.) for its own purposes, and is hereby explicitly consented to.

By registering, you are declaring that you have been informed of the terms herein, and expressly consent that your personal data be processed for the said purposes.
